Chiropractic care during pregnancy
During pregnancy, there are several physiological and endocrinological changes that occur in preparation for creating the environment for the developing baby. The following changes could result in a misaligned spine or joints:
- Protruding abdomen and increased back curve
- Pelvic changes
- Postural adaptations
Establishing pelvic balance and alignment is another reason to obtain chiropractic care during pregnancy. When the pelvis is misaligned it may reduce the amount of room available for the developing baby. This restriction is called intrauterine constraint. A misaligned pelvis may also make it difficult for the baby to get into the best possible position for delivery. This can affect the mother’s ability to have a natural, non-invasive birth. Breech and posterior positions can interfere with the natural ease of labor and lead to interventions such as caesarian sections. The nervous system is the master communication system to all the body systems including the reproductive system. The doctors at ChiroBalance Spine & Sport can keep the spine aligned which will help the entire body work more effectively.
Kids & Chiropractic
Kids often have numerous falls or illnesses that compromise the integrity of their structure, thus adversely affecting body function. Often the first trauma of a child’s life is birth trauma. Even the “perfect” birth can leave an infant with strain on their musculoskeletal structures. If we want our kids to grow up healthy, we need to help them maintain full movement and symmetry especially while growing.
A few common conditions that we see regularly in children include the following:
- EAR INFECTIONS. Reduced drainage or blockage in the drainage system of the cervical lymphatic channel and Eustachian tubes allow for fluid to build up in the inner ear, making it an inviting environment for bacteria and viruses. Our gentle treatments will allow for increased lymphatic and Eustachian tube drainage.
- ASTHMA. Chiropractic treatments in many cases will improve nerve function and relax neck musculature, which may improve respiratory function and increase lymphatic drainage.
- TEXT NECK. This epidemic is becoming more and more common in our children today with the more widespread use of technology such as tablets and smartphones. The increased strain that children put on their necks from improper use of these invaluable tools puts them at risk of further complications later in life. Read more about it here.
